What is UfoN?

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) offers training programs in more than 650 different locations, spread across 180 countries in 100 languages. This global university is called the University of the Nations (UfoN), dedicated to discipling men, women, youth, and adults, equipping them with the skills they need to serve and reach the world for Jesus.
UFON's methodology combines traditional (formal) classroom teaching with an environment of discipleship and practical experience (informal and non-formal) in the mission field. Many of our courses are bilingual, including in Guinea-Bissau, and hundreds of others are offered in various locations around the world.

From May to July, we held the first School of Health/ICBS at YWAM Guinea-Bissau, in West Africa. This event marked a new beginning, and we believe that the Lord will use health as a powerful tool in this nation.
We have eight students of different nationalities and ethnicities, and teachers from four continents, demonstrating intense dedication and learning. We worked in schools, villages, in the regional hospital of GabĂº, in maternity hospitals, local clinics, and we ended with a practical period in a village of an unreached people, where we witnessed hardened hearts being touched by the love of God. During these three months, we reached about 350 people with basic health care, in addition to sharing the Word of God.

Health Reality in Guinea-Bissau
The health scenario in Guinea-Bissau is extremely challenging. With a population of 500,000, our province has only 19 doctors. The rates of maternal and child mortality, HIV and malaria are alarming. Faced with this reality, we feel God's call to be a response and help transform this situation.
ICBS is a school that trains students in hard-to-reach places where health resources are scarce. We teach about basic human needs, health promotion, disease prevention, community health, first aid, and community development. Through anthropology and the biblical worldview in health, students learn to see the human being as a whole: body, soul and spirit.
The study of the book of Leviticus reveals the God who cares about health, establishing rules to keep his people healthy through proper prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Stay tuned for the next ICBS date.

Bible School
This school offers students a good understanding of the Inductive approach to Bible Study, equipping them with tools for life. Students read the entire Bible aloud. Many different teaching and learning styles are used and experimented with. All kinds of genres are studied.
